Now That’s Personal!

By Paul | April 2, 2008

kelli-templeton.jpgKelli Templeton (Director of Young Adults) and Dave Dawson (Director of Outreach) blessed us with some transparent answers to some more personal questions:

1.      What aspect of your ministry do you enjoy most?

KT: I love it when God allows me to see a 20-30 year old person in Resonate respond to His calling and use their gifts to serve the body of Christ.  Specifically, it was beyond exciting to see all of the individuals use their unique gifts to organize and execute the most recent Cafe Resonate in March.

DD: I enjoy meeting with people–encouraging and challenging them.
2.      What challenges do you face in your ministry? What helps you overcome them?

KT: Placing 20-30 year old newcomers in small groups that meet their specific needs (childcare, singles, day of the week, etc).  We are overcoming this challenge through prayer and constant communication with existing small group leaders to assess their group’s unique bent, identify emerging leaders, discuss needs, etc.

DD: Keeping up with emails and paperwork is difficult for me.  I am becoming more disciplined in getting these things done, rewarding myself with what I like to do upon completion of the odious tasks.
3.      What is your favorite way to spend time with God?

KT: Early in the morning while all is quiet, alone with a cup of coffe, bible, journal, and some supplemental reading/study.

DD: My alone time with the Lord is most enjoyable when I am studying a demanding book and thinking about Him.
4.      Who has influenced your spiritual growth recently?

KT: One of my professors at Western Seminary - Art Azurdia.  He has challenged me to pursue the use of certain gifts he sees in me and to pursue Jesus deeper and passionately.

DD: An English author by the name of Martyn Lloyd Jones, who was a mentor for me many years ago, has come back on the scene in my own studies and once again is influencing me.
5.      What is God teaching you these days?

KT: That he loves me no matter what I do or don’t do - I am the one that Jesus loves.

DD: How to more effectively influence people–whether those that report to me in the ministry or those that I report to.
