Your Personal Plan for World P.E.A.C.E.
By Paul | March 11, 2008
Rick Warren’s newest 40-day Campaign is 40 Days of PEACE, a huge vision of every small group in every U.S. church making a difference in the world for Christ through a missional focus. It starts with a personal PEACE, emanates to your local community, and then culminates with a trip to a foreign country to address Global Giants. Here are the 5 Steps of PEACE and how to encourage your group to take a evangelistic, personal step:
Plant churches:
- Get to know a neighbor or colleague at work or school. Begin to develop caring relationships with those around me.
- List and pray for 3 people who do not know the Lord Jesus in a personal way.
- Seek opportunities to share the Good News through my testimony.
Equip servant leaders
- Pray for leaders in my community, workplace or school and seek to help them know Jesus and lead people like Jesus did.
- Help a young believer take his/her next steps in their spiritual journey with God.
- Invite someone who knows Christ, but is not in a small group, to join my small group.
Assist the poor
- Pray for people in my sphere of influence who are in financial need.
- Ask God to make me aware of people living in poverty around me. Commit some time, abilities, and resources to assist those in need.
- Seek to help the poor in practical ways.
Care for the sick
- Express practical kindness for someone I know who is sick: take them a meal, offer to drive them to the doctor; do errands/shopping for them, etc.
- Pray with those I know who are physically suffering. Pray for healing, strength, and comfort–each day for 2 weeks. Communicate genuine concern by following up with each person.
- Find out how I can help visit the sick who are hospitalized.
Educate the next generation
- Look for someone younger than me with whom I could build a relationship and become a mentor.
- Encourage someone around me who may be struggling because he/she lacks further educational opportunities. Offer to tutor or support them.
- Make a commitment to spend time with my kids and their friends to develop them. Make a plan.
