Pastor Dave reminded the staff of Jesus’ role as Faithful Savior at a staff meeting this week and took the concept a step further by calling our attention to that role in our workplace as well as for our eternal security. When we yield to our redeemed nature through Jesus (and not our old sin nature that occasionally raises its ugly head), we can avoid destructive workplace maladies like:
- Corrupt communication (coarse jesting, complaining, gossip, malice)
- Stealing–not just like office supplies, but time (laziness, not being “present”, chit-chatting too much)
- Factions (by gender, by rank, by role, by education/training)
- Lording-over behaviors
Our God-saved natures produce the opposite fruit of these sinful work behaviors: encouraging talk, strong work ethic, team unity, humble servant-leadership.
