The Sower

church-news.gifWhat’s News Around Bethel:

  • This Sunday: Have you tried the Wired 9:00 a.m. venue yet? This up-tempo worship service is in the fellowship hall and features Dave Dawson as emcee.  There’s a 3-in-1 missions team report in Desert View at 6:30, where you’ll get the opportunity to hear about kingdom pursuits in 3 areas of the world. Right before that, there’s an opportunity to meet Keith, who is interviewing for the new music director position at Bethel; find out more about him in the Ridgeview room at 6:00.
  • As the week goes on, 20’s and 30’s congregate at Cafe Resonate’s Tighty-Whitey Christmas on Thursday, Dec 6, in Desert View, collecting new men’s underwear/socks for the homeless and hearing Scott Wagoner speak. Then the women of Bethel are featured in “Presence of Hope” on Friday, the 7th in the auditorium, where the TriCity Pregnancy Network’s Laura Christopherson will speak and whose organization will benefit from the gifts made that evening. The next morning, Sat the 8th, the men of Bethel crash the fellowship hall for some grub at 7:30 a.m. and some straight-shooting by Pastor Dave in a talk called “Stupid-makers.” (and guys, don’t forget to come pray on first Friday, Dec 7, in the portable at some point during that day)
  • Perk up for information on JanTerm (January’s special classes to pursue Jesus more deeply) this Sunday. Not only will Pastor Dave explain the concept from the pulpit, but there will be a special brochure with all the classes listed and a registration form for each individual attending.
  • Got anyone in your group interested in a New Year’s baptism? What a way to start the year with a huge step for Christ! Dec 16 at 9:00 a.m. is an orientation class to refer them to.
  • Lots of chances to get your group outward-focused this holiday season, too. Check out the opportunities for Angel Tree, Christmas parties for the elderly, jail ministry, and food/gift outreach–all in the bulletin on Sunday.
  • Looking ahead at Christmas Eve? This year Bethel will offer identical services on Sunday, Dec 23 (normal times and venues), as well as at 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
  • And around the corner for beginning of 2008: an array of tools for pursuing a deeper relationship with Jesus will be presented to help everyone take a practical step toward Bible-reading, prayer, and other disciplines.
