So Much Going On

Here’s an update on news around Bethel, as reported at Monday’s staff meeting:
Did you know that Teri Pearson has been working at Bethel for 12 years and Mary Spanner for 9 years? Celebrate them with the staff the next time you see them for their faithful service.- Pastor Dave taught the staff more on the spiritual discipline of meditation, using the illustration of chewing the cud (bring it up again and chew on it before digesting).
- The Bethel Big Nite Out Strikes Back was a great connection time for new faces at Bethel during the unstructured time of summer, and will be a “keeper” event, especially as humor builds bridges.
- Newcomer Orientation has changed its look to Bethel Snapshots, and this past Sunday over 45 people attended to learn about the Bethel big picture.
- The Thematic Goal got kicked off last Sunday, and the 4-week sermon series and small group study begin this Sunday on the 16th. For those who didn’t get their study last week, they are now available.
- The Leadership Community Experience is this Friday and Saturday, as all Bethel leaders come together to go “deeper” with God so that they can equip their group members to do the same. Special Speaker: Art Azurdia.
- GroupFinder will be October 7, with a theme of “no man is an island”, and is for those who still have not found a small group after this kick-off wave has passed. Dave Hilliard will be leading a short-term group for going through the Basic Training Manual with others this fall.
- Over 30 leaders in the Growth and Healing ministry will be leading the Search for Life series this fall, and the women’s Joy and MOPS ministries launched this week as well.
- Bethel will again be doing the outreach Fall Frenzies at Rowena Chess and Eastgate Elementaries on Oct 31 and Nov 1 this fall. And Dave Dawson will be leading a Hispanic outreach in October as well.
- Over 550 kids were in church this past Sunday as the new wing was opened for occupancy. The staff prayer-walked the new wing in celebration to the Lord.
- The best place to refer not yet believing but seeking people is the Alpha or First Steps classes, which will be starting soon, to help people explore the faith.
- The Wired venue will be launching in the fellowship hall (with new black ceiling) on October 14 during first service.
- John Schultz explained the new benevolence process for Bethel to the staff. The main thing to know is to refer needy people to fill out an application in the office, where staff and volunteers will screen, interview, and make determinations for the best interests of the individuals.
