A God-Highlight Film (Part 2)
By Paul | June 14, 2007
One of the most memorable of highlights of this year’s small group, just occurred 3 weeks ago tonight. A woman from my work, whom many in Bethel have been praying for, for at least 5 years, came to a Women’s Bible Study group that the women in our care group began that night. Her name is Cindy. She received Christ just 5 weeks ago in the parking lot of Barracuda’s coffee shop. She began attending Bethel that Sunday, and has come regularly when she’s been able.
Our women in caregroup are meeting every Wed throughout the summer to do the “Lies Women Believe” Bible study. Cindy will miss coming tonight, as she is out of town visiting her mom, but I’m confident she’ll continue with us when she returns.
God is good and being persistent in prayer is definitely beneficial. He answers in His time.

There were many great care group moments this year, but the one that touched my heart most was an evening spent in prayer. The women went to a separate room and spent time sharing their hearts and praying together. I was blessed by the wisdom I received from these women who spoke truth into my life and shared their hearts with each other.

My most memorable moment would be when members started “Telling Their Story”. We did the Hybels “Just Walk Across the Room” series, and it felt so good to have various members tell their story when they had never given their testimony before. It was a real breakthrough for a few of the members. They felt a difference in their relationship with the Lord after that.

If I was to pick out one that would apply to the whole group, it would have to be the answers to prayer that we have seen. This year we were really challenged as a group to focus more on prayer time. Our approach was to put prayer requests on a whiteboard and then take time to pray for those on the list. The next week we would go over the list and get a status on those listed. It was exciting each week as we got back together and listened to the praise reports from last week’s prayer requests. It’s not only important to take time to pray, it’s important to take time to give prayer praise reports. To see prayers answered is pretty awesome, but the thing that I noticed the most was how people’s hearts were bonded and relationships were taken to a deeper level as we prayed for one another or for each other’s loved ones. Prayer unites hearts; it teaches us about compassion towards others and increases our faith as we see God at work.
