TEAM Leadership in Women’s Ministries: Together Each (Woman) Achieves More

By Paul | April 20, 2007

linda-bechtel.jpgOur Director of Women’s Ministries Linda Bechtel does a marvelous job of leading teams and helping women move along the discipleship path through the JOY programs and other strategic events. Listen to her heart:

1. What do you see God doing in women’s ministries lately, that just excites you?

Well, I always love seeing NEW women step up and use the gifts God has given them. i.e. giving their first devotion in JOY, being on the greeting team for a special event, joining a prayer team, etc. When they get excited about seeing God work through them, it excites me.

2. What kinds of topics have you been training your leaders on this year? Why?

Always work at replacing yourself …be a facilitator, not the leader or teacher. Never make a decision on your own that the whole team can own. And always…develop teams. Never be a solo person on anything :)

3. How do you strategically identify and nurture new leaders in JOY?

If you see a gal who is faithful, available and teacher…you have just started raising up a leader to lead something.

4. Got a quick cool story (you don’t have to include their name) of a changed life in JOY?

A gal started coming to JOY a year ago fall. She had never been in a Bible study. She was under great stress and well, frazzled much of the time. Now after almost two years of being in a Bible study, quitting that job and another and seeing how God can work in and through her by her just committing each day to the Lord…she is a different person, taking on leadership, doing some speaking and administration. She is a light to those around her and she is growing each day~!

5. Just for fun, if you were a color, what would you be and why?

Today, yellow. I love the spring season coming and that gives me extra energy. More applicable to “shine Jesus shine.” :)
