The Sower

journaling.jpgOver the years, small group leaders have learned a lot of lessons that would be good to get more mileage from, by sharing them with all our leaders.  Here are some (and feel free to post a comment to add to the list):

  • It is important to contact people every week.
  • Watch out when you think the group is going well.
  • People are so needy that a little friendship goes a long way.
  • Common tasks bind group members together.
  • Not meeting at all in the summer causes the group to lose ground.
  • Having men and women in separate groups for prayer and sharing is helpful.
  • In care groups, husband and wife leaders must function as a mutually committed team.
  • Keeping the purpose clearly in focus keeps the group on track.
  • Sometimes passion, even more than maturity, is more of an essential quality of a good leader.
  • A second and third committed couple/person is important to support the leader.
  • Delegation is important in making disciples.
