Boundaries of a Small Group Leader
By Paul | February 9, 2007

Take a few minutes today and examine where you are investing your life-resources. A check-up quiz will help you see if you are building healthy boundaries that preserve your preparation time for small group.
1. Is there anyone who regularly demands more from me than is healthful? (How can I respond to those individuals so that, when finished, I will not feel drained or like I’m in a deficit situation?)
2. What self-imposed limits will help me choose activities, meetings, recreation, and the like? (How can I be accountable in this process?)
3. What volunteer activity is unhealthy for me, pushing me outside of my comfort zone, or robbing me of relationship time with God, family, and self that I so desperately need? (What steps can I take to move toward balance and health?)
4. Where can I spend time alone to prepare for my group that will maximize the opportunity and minimize distractions? (Is there a place at home, work, school, or library that provides this?)
5. What will I need to complete my study time and make it most productive? (Any resource materials or printed curriculum? Any instructions for the leader? Any Bible study to prepare from scratch?)
6. Do I need to begin working on a series of related lessons? (Would it make sense to outline the whole series, so I can keep some continuity?)
7. Am I accomplishing what God has placed in my heart to do?
